About Roena King
Welcome to my gallery.
I hope that you will enjoy my paintings. My favorite method for my oil paintings in in the old master's Flemish technique of seven layers. Value is added to my work by using a time tested and honored process used by the masters. This process is lengthy in its execution resulting in great depth of the works. Paintings completed in this technique can be seen in museums and have lasted over 300 years and remain in quality condition. Additionally my graphite drawings are completed in another layering technique using six layers of graphite to achieve the realism I enjoy.
often my photos are in a panorama format that make you feel as if you were there with me as they demonstrate the whole scene that caused me to be inspired enough to take the photograph.
I have a deep passion for capturing images of birds in their natural environmental settings. Many of my photos you will see here were taken in our travels through out the USA and are used for my paintings.
I had the exciting pleasure of capturing Piping Plovers that were banded. Research on line enabled me to contact the banding site headquarters, who forwarded my images to the proper places and through my images there were able to determine where these birds were born, the year, and how old they were. They were very excited to learn that the bird(s) were still alive, one was 6 years old.
I have taught oil painting, water color painting, water color with gouache painting, prisma colored pencil drawing to adults and graphite drawing to children.
